Privacy & Data Protection Policy

KALM Horizon takes great care to safeguard personal data provided by clients and to process this data fairly and lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the new General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR).

For me to assess your child’s sleep and early years problems, and support you, I will need to record personal information about you and your family. This information includes yours and your child’s name, age, address, phone number, email address and GP details. I will ask relevant questions regarding medical information and aspects of your family history.

This information will be stored securely for one year after your final consultation. The information will be stored on a password protected computer. I am the only person with access.

In accordance with the new GDPR regulations, I am obliged to retain documented evidence of individuals opting in to receive communications from me, either electronically, on paper or face to face. This data is filed in my client database and/or paper filing system, depending on the way the individual opted in.

I adhere to an opt-in system for emails, I will only ever send emails to those who have requested them. You can remove yourself from the mailing list at any time via the link to unsubscribe at the bottom of every email or by emailing and requesting your email address is removed from the list. If you wish, you can also request all data we hold on you is deleted.

Any notes that I keep while working with you will be a brief, factual record of each session.

I may have to share notes or information you disclose to me, where there is an ethical duty for me to do so. For example, to avoid serious harm to yourself or another person, including safeguarding children or vulnerable adults.

I will not hold your name on my mobile phone. If you contact me by mobile phone, I will leave the conversation on my phone until we have finished working together, after which it will be deleted. Any communication by email or mobile phone communication will be securely kept. Both my computer and mobile phone are password protected.

Your personal information will not be shared with any third party for any reasons other than those mentioned above.

You have the right to ask to see any information held by me about you or your child, and you will need to submit a request via email. You also have the right to ask for information that you believe to be incorrect, to be rectified. I will endeavour to provide you with information requested within two working weeks.

Cookies are small files saved to the user’s computer hard drive that track, save and store information about the user’s interactions and usage of the website. KALM uses cookies to help analyse data about web page traffic and improve the website. A cookie in no way gives KALM access to any information about you, other than the data you chose to share with KALM. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser to decline cookies if you prefer.

The KALM website may contain links to other websites of interest. I cannot guarantee or verify the contents of externally linked websites despite my best efforts. Users should therefore note they click on external links at their own risk and I cannot be held liable for any damage or implications caused by visiting any external links mentioned.

Social media policy

KALM adopts a Social Media Policy. While KALM may have official profiles on social media platforms, users are advised to verify authenticity of such profiles before engaging with or sharing information with such profiles. I will never ask for user passwords or personal details on social media platforms. Users are advised to conduct themselves appropriately when engaging with KALM on social media. There may be instances where the website features social sharing buttons, which help share web content directly from web pages to the respective social media platforms. You use social sharing buttons at your own discretion and accept that doing so may publish content to your social media profile feed or page.
